Mission: God is a “sending God” who creatively takes the initiative to redeem His world. The
church is the instrument of God’s mission in the world. We believe Mt.View and Scottsdale
Presbyterian Churches are being invited and empowered by God to participate in his work
already ordained for Scottsdale. Therefore, rather than believing that the church has a mission
to accomplish, we can envision and act on the fact that God’s mission has a church.
Purpose:
The purpose of uniting Scottsdale Presbyterian Church and Mountain View Presbyterian
Church is to come together to more effectively share Jesus with our neighbors.
Vision:
The unchurched, dechurched and needy of Scottsdale will be renewed and
transformed by a flourishing Christian community of Faith, Hope & Love in Christ.
Objective:
Make Followers of Jesus (Mt. 28: 18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I
have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
[Because this united church will have mission as both its originating impulse and its
organizing principle, it will be patterned after what God has done in Jesus Christ, that is,
to be sent into the world; not to expect people to come to us]
Strategy:
Worship (1 Chronicles 16:29)
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an of fering, and
come before him. Worship the LORD in holy splendor;
Evangelism (Luke 2:10)
But the angel said to them, “Do not be af raid; f or see – I am
bringing you good news of great joy f or all the people:”
Service (1 Peter 4:10)
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one
another with whatever gif t each of you has received.
Caring (John 13:34)
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just
as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
Teaching (2 Timothy 3:16,17)
All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for
reproof , for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that
everyone who belongs to God may be prof icient, equipped for
every good work.
